Our game · Coming to the App Store and Google Play

Never with the whites.

Customers sit on the benches with a bag and a numbered ticket. Every bag goes washer, dryer, folding table, ready shelf, owner, and every machine takes its time, so the game is planning across stages. Tap a bag and every legal spot lights up. Free with gentle ads, or £2.99 once to remove them.

A rule everybody already knows.

Nobody needs teaching that a red sock ruins a white wash, which made it the perfect thing to build a game around. Everything else is a pipeline: five stages, every machine on its own clock, and the planning happens between them.

  1. Tap, then tap

Select a bag and every legal destination pulses. Tap one to put it there, tap anywhere else to change your mind. No dragging, no swiping.

  2. Never with the whites

The Big Drum takes two bags at once. Whites in with colours or darks come out pink and the customer pays nothing. A red sock on the tag counts as colours.

  3. The Odd Sock Drawer

Socks pop out of finished dryers. Tap them before they vanish. Twenty-four to find, including a Christmas sock and the very rare Golden Sock.

  4. Five laundrettes

The Corner, Market Street, Station Road, the Seafront and the High Street, each with its own tiles, window and machines. Idle machines are the enemy: a finished load left sitting goes musty.

How it is built

Native on both platforms, small, and honest about money: one purchase, no subscriptions, no ads while the drums are turning.

Back to all work
  • Built twice, natively: Swift and SwiftUI on iPhone, Kotlin and Jetpack Compose on Android
  • A small scene graph of our own on Android, shared across every game, rather than a game engine
  • Select-then-place, with legal destinations worked out from each machine
  • A parity test that compiles the Swift rules and checks the Kotlin ones match, day by day
  • Shares its shift, results and shop flow with Crumb & Kettle
  • StoreKit 2 and Play Billing for the single one-off purchase
  • Plays offline, saves on the device, keeps your podcast running
  • All art and sound generated by the same tools as our other games

Questions people ask

What kind of game is Suds & Spin?
A cosy time-management game for iPhone, iPad and Android set in a corner laundrette. Every bag goes washer, dryer, folding table and back to its owner, and every machine takes its time. A shift lasts a minute and a half or so.
What is the pink rule?
The Big Drum washes two bags at once. Put whites in with colours or darks and the load comes out pink, and a pink load pays nothing. A red sock on a tag counts as colours, which catches people out.
Is Suds & Spin free?
Yes. It is free with ads between shifts, never during one. A single £2.99 purchase removes every ad forever and is shared with your family.
When is it out?
Suds & Spin is finished and heading to the App Store and Google Play. Email [email protected] if you want to hear when it lands.
